A meager contribution: The contrast with the arm-wrestling photo made me notice that the film promo poster’s photo is flipped…presumably because Hitch is the better known for a Western, left-to-right reading audience. I suspect Mr. Taunton’s book, interpreted or misinterpreted as it may be, will simply add nuance to the vast overwhelm contributed by the great journalist.

So it may well be that it’s Taunton who keeps two sets of books, and he may have turned this around onto Hitch, who warned us that there would be such claims about him and not to credit them. In any case, Taunton’s whole enterprise is based on lies … I’m surprised that you were so naive as to endorse the book in the first place.

Much relieved by seeing this, as I respect Mr. Shermer a great deal and was saddened by what seemed at first like a lapse of good judgement there.

I should say it was not even that, on Michael’s part, but at most a case of misplaced generosity, which has now been appropriately addressed.

Taunton also exaggerates the impact 9/11 had on Christopher Hitchens’ views of militarism. Hitchens was for the US intervention in Bosnia, which happened well before 9/11, and there are numerous videos in the online C-SPAN archives from the ’90s proving this.
